Hackathons are the closest thing software has to a pickup game: a team, a clock, and an idea you have to make real before the demo. Ours was Waste Wiz — a smarter way to handle waste — and the five of us ground through the weekend from empty classroom to working demo.
We walked out with medals. More importantly, we walked out still friends, which anyone who has hackathoned knows is the harder achievement.
